Living with Hurricanes

I am asking myself daily what the hell I am doing in this state of Florida ! Moved here from New England in 1972. This is about the worse year for Hurricanes as everyone knows. Being in Central Fl I foolishly thought I was safe. Ha ! We had lovely Hurricane Frances torment us this past weekend. And I have discovered the greatest respect for our Pioneer ancestors especially the woman that had to cook & clean for the family in depressing heat & mind you, they didn't wear the clothing we wear today. At least I had bottled water & a grill. And that in itself was a pain in the ass. They had to start their own open fires & get the water from streams & haul it back to their destination. So how dare I complain !!!! Our electric was off for almost 3 days. And sleeping in this oppressive heat was the worse. But all in all, I am very grateful that we are all intact as is our property. Now we have Hurricane Ivan to worry about !!!! I think it's time for this state to tie one on & say screw it !!!! We clean up one mess & here comes another one. Oh woe is us ! Let me see....what would I prefer ???? Snow blizzards or Hurricanes ?? hmmmmm. All we can do at this point is hope & pray this IVAN goes away.....Please !!!!

Help is right

My lovely " comedic " niece did a piece on the DNC.  She mistitled it  " Hope" and meant  "Help

" Correction:
Ok - a couple of posts back I said Hope - its Help.  So that I don't misrepresent the DNC Candidates.  God Forbid.  This was her correction note on her blog

 

Well I agree with her but in a different sense.  I do  HOPE that all this political agenda is over with.  We are blasted with it on the news starting the day & ending the day. And of course the in between rhetoric of the candidates.  And the commercials from both sides.  I detest the bashing from both ends.  Just state the issues that you both believe in & THINK in all your foolishness that it will come to being.  I don't think so.  What planet are you living on ? And on that note.   I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE !   Have a great day.

Exercise

The joys of trying to get yourself in shape.  I have a daughter that is a physical fitness trainer.  I just love it when she introduces me to someone.  " Oh, this is my mother ".  I know they are thinking " you got to be kidding ".  Two ton annie compared to this petite, firm girl. Now mind you, I do have some height on her.  Not much.  Shrinking comes in when you get older too.  So with the shrinking & spreading you can see where I am going with this.  I have been trying to do the treadmill.  I have these good intentions of doing it every morning 6 days a week.  Of course I tell my daughter this & she wants to get me in the gym.  When she works someone out they are sore, can't move, PAIN !  Not this girl.  Hubby had a heart attack & he can book it on the treadmill let me tell you.  Oh well, I am making a start.  Now to start working on what passes my lips.  Help !  I need more will power !

Useless Shows on TV

I hope whoever reads this is NOT..... I repeat NOT a fan of the Jerry Springer show.  I have never seen a show that waste's more air time as that program.  My husband unfortunately is a fan.  I told him I don't get it as he is a fairly intelligent guy, why in the world would he watch such trivial garbage.  He said and I quote " It amazes him the As.......in this world".  To top it off, I have to suffer with this program in the loudest volume on the TV, as he does he treadmill when the show comes on & he can't miss a word.  Now that is an understatement !!  I mean they bleep out more then 99 % of the words as its not suitable for the TV viewing audience. Go figure !  I have even tried putting on my portable CD player on my ears to drown out the program & listen to some pleasant music.  Doesn't work !  Oh pity me.  Ah well, could be worse.  And on that note have a great Friday !

Guess who just joined

Yes, yes...here I am.   Finally !  I have been having so much fun reading my niece & nephews Blog & of course my beautiful sister-in-law I figured,  might as well join in the family fun.  The Title of my Blog is compliments of my very funny niece.  Didn't know such a sense of humor was in that girl.  Must show in her writing more so then in person.  I see her father, my brother has rubbed off on her big time.  This is just a test, now to get in momentum of doing this on a daily basis.   Till another time, outta here for now.
